Is a maternity shoot worth it?? Obviously I am going to sound biased since my job is literally being a maternity photographer. BUT I'm also still birth mom x's two, so as uncomfortable as it is to let that cross your mind, those photos might be all some moms get to ever have. Its not lost on me that some of my clients like me spent years trying fertility treatments and dream of being able to get those photos, that some of my clients have had losses, and that yes statistically I will at some point have maternity clients who will not bring their baby home.
While I don't want you to have to think about the worst case, every single baby bump I shoot I am trying to capture all the details. So that should the worst ever happen, you will always have these images to hold
However its not all the hard stuff that make it worth it, there is also just incredible beauty in pregnancy that deserves to be saved. You are creating a literal human, you spend months watching your body grow and change all to keep your little one safe. These changes can be frustrating not only physically but also emotionally. So many moms find pregnancy the least attractive season and yet I see you as the most beautiful. Your body is doing something incredible and all those new curves. new stretch marks, or that little indent of a tiny foot inside, should be celebrated. Some moms thrive through pregnancy and find themselves staring in the mirror a hundred times a day. That joy is worth capturing to look back on as your kids grow up. Pregnancy is a brief season in our parenting journey, taking the time to freeze this part will never not be worth it.
