Location Ideas For Your Next Session

Planning to book an outdoor session but not sure where you want it? Check out my go to spots that I use for families, maternity, engagement shoots and more.

Rundle Park- I've been shooting here for years and its still one of my most loved spots. You can move through the large park and capture so many different backdrops. From large open green spaces, ponds, treed in trails, a huge wooden bridge, to skipping rocks by river. With so many beautiful options Rundle is always on my list I send to clients. Terwillegar Park- If you live in Edmonton, you have most likely heard of this location. There is a reason its so popular. It offers everything from hills to wide open fields, countless trails, small ponds, and it all leads right down to the river. Don't be too intimated if you show up and the parking lot is packed, the park is huge and I've never had a problem finding quite spaces for sessions. Terwillegar is definitely a great location for large extended family shoots, and perfect for those wild kiddos who want to explore and run around during the shoot. The colors this park offers in the fall are absolutely beautiful. Visit the park via the link https://maps.app.goo.gl/RjTvdXzURuSWQx4x5

Downtown Parkade's- Photography sessions in a parking lot?? It's not as crazy as it sounds. This is such a unique backdrop for those wanting more urban vibes. There are a couple great hidden gems that overlook the city streets, most evenings you will have the whole thing to yourself. This is a great option for family and couples sessions. Have fun with this space and bring an air mattress for a cozy truck bed shoot, chalk for the kiddos to draw hop scotch for the family to play, or have a picnic and pop champagne.

Wyte Ave- Another location I have loved shooting at is right down by wyte ave. This area offers some really cute options. Capturing engagement couples strolling down the street, grabbing a treat at one of the many coffee shops, or head behind the old Strathcona famers market for the perfect little family session. You can find it all within just a block or two. Brick walls, colorful doors, stone steps, vintage shops, to green grass and flower beds. Do try and plan carefully though, this area can get very busy and crowded depending on the day and time.

Mutart Conservatory Outdoors- This location is another fun one with multiple options. Utilize all the greenspace and walking paths or grab some fun shots with the glass pyramids as your back drop. Outside the Mutart is perfect for any session from families, couples, to maternity. This spot is also a bonus for clients because after your session you can head indoors and check out everything it has to offer.
